Why KiDi Left Lynx Entertainment After Ten Years

Ghanaian Afrobeats star KiDi has opened up about his reasons for leaving his record label, Lynx Entertainment after being with it for 10 years.

Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, KiDi confirmed his departure from Lynx Entertainment, revealing that he left the record label in 2025 after his contract ended.

KiDi said he felt ready to chart his own independent path in the music industry and that the split was entirely amicable and not due to any conflict with label boss Richie Mensah.

“I left Lynx last year. The contract was over and I felt I had grown. Just as when you are a child, your parents feed and clothe you, but eventually you will grow and you will have to go into the world on your own and live your life independently. It doesn’t mean you have issues with them.

“I knew from the moment I signed with Lynx when they took me from being a nobody to somebody that I would go out into the world and be my own person. I will learn what I had to learn and take those things to the world and live my own life,” he said.

The Sugar hitmaker described the moment he sat down with Richie Mensah to deliver the news, expressing deep gratitude for being taken from the University of Ghana and built into a globally recognised artiste.

“I told him, ‘Da, I am grateful. You took me from the University of Ghana. You moulded me to become somebody the whole world sings his songs. But my time is up. I want to go out there, make my own life and make my own mistakes,” he said.

KiDi revealed that Richie Mensah initially tried to convince him to stay, but eventually respected his decision and sent him off with his full blessing.

“He tried to convince me to stay but I told him, ‘I have learned all I can, I want to make my own path for myself.’ He told me, ‘Ok, I will always be here for you. Anything you need, I will be here for you.’ So he gave me his blessings,” KiDi said.

The artiste said he was confident in his ability to thrive as an independent artiste, citing his knowledge, talent and sense of direction as his foundation going forward.

“I know what I am about, I know myself, I have a strong sense of self, I have the talent, the look and the blessing,” he said.

KiDi joins fellow Lynx Entertainment alumni Kuami Eugene, who also departed the label after his contract ended.
