We Wish Him Well- Appiah-Kubi Backs Wontumi’s National Chairmanship Ambition

A legal practitioner and former Member of Parliament for Akyem North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has expressed optimism that Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi will overcome his current legal challenges and successfully pursue higher office within the party.

Speaking on the matter, Appiah-Kubi noted that while Wontumi is currently facing a court trial, he remains hopeful that the situation will not hinder the chairman’s political ambitions, particularly his reported interest in contesting for the national chairmanship position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“We wish him well, and I hope that he will enjoy the necessary peace to mobilize resources for the 2028 campaign and also to contest the position of the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party,” Appiah-Kubi stated.

His remarks come at a time when discussions about the future leadership of the NPP are gradually gaining attention ahead of the 2028 general elections. Chairman Wontumi, a prominent and influential figure within the party’s Ashanti Region stronghold, is widely regarded as a potential contender for a top national executive role.

Appiah-Kubi’s comments signal a show of support from within party ranks, emphasizing the importance of unity and stability as the NPP prepares for future political contests. He underscored the need for a conducive environment that would allow party members with leadership aspirations to campaign effectively, regardless of ongoing legal or personal challenges.
