The new head coach of the Black Stars, Carlos Queiroz, has arrived in Ghana ahead of his official unveiling on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
The veteran tactician was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport on Wednesday evening. He is expected to lodge in a hotel tonight before addressing a press conference at the Alisa Hotel on Thursday afternoon.
The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association, working with all key stakeholders, appointed Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the senior national team last week, replacing Otto Addo.
The former Real Madrid, Manchester United, Portugal and Iran coach will lead Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The Portuguese tactician boasts an extensive World Cup pedigree, having led South Africa’s World Cup qualification campaign in 2022. He guided Portugal to the knockout phase in 2010 and took charge of Iran at both the 2014 and 2018 tournaments.
He comes in with high hopes, although sources say there is no pressure on him as he prepares to lead Ghana to the global showpiece in June.
