Chairman Wontumi has promised to activate the citizen arrest clause and personally arrest any macho man sent by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to foment trouble at centres set up by the Election Commission of Ghana (EC) to register first time voters.
The EC has scheduled its limited voter registration exercise for Tuesday, May 7, 2024, across the nation. Speaking on the exercise on Wontumi TV, the Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) warned the NDC not to attempt to create chaos else- it will be met by fire.
“If NDC bring macho men I will arrest them. I will use the citizen arrest clause to arrest them”, he asserted.
He also reminded any troublemaker that the Ghana Police Service has set up cameras to secretly monitor the behaviour and movement of people assigned to create confusion during the exercise.
Chairman Wontumi used the opportunity to congratulate voters who have just turned eighteen (18) years and urged them to go out and register.
“If there are challenges they can reach out to Wontumi media for us to assist”, he said.
