The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Paul Yandoh, has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, arguing that Ghanaians expected improved living conditions, not worsening hardship.
Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show hosted by Kweku Kyeremanteng Nkansah, Mr. Yandoh said citizens voted for solutions to pressing economic challenges.
“Ghanaians vote because they want solutions to their problems. They did not vote for the NDC to make life harder,” he stated.
He noted that Ghanaians expect leadership that can manage the economy effectively, reduce fuel prices and electricity tariffs, and ensure timely payments to cocoa farmers.
Mr. Yandoh also raised concerns about increasing economic pressure on renters and criticised the recent rise in electricity tariffs.
“Electricity has increased by almost 30%, yet the same government cannot provide stable power. Is this what we call governance?” he questioned.
He further took aim at the NDC’s development record in the Ashanti Region, claiming the party has failed to deliver meaningful projects.
According to him, the NPP, under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, executed significant infrastructure projects in the region. He cited a new university, the Creative Arts building at Kwadaso, the Ashanti Regional Airport, and several healthcare facilities as examples.
Mr. Yandoh added that the Agenda 111 hospital project was nearly 80 percent complete before the NPP left office, insisting the party demonstrated stronger performance in infrastructure delivery.
He concluded that the NDC cannot match the NPP in terms of development, while also criticising what he described as misleading narratives from the opposition.
In a critical but light-hearted tone, he also mocked the NDC’s past “aboboyaa ambulance” initiative, questioning its effectiveness in handling medical emergencies
