EOCO Never Discussed Any GH¢55 Million With Me — Miracles Aboagye After His Release

Aspiring Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has refuted reports linking his arrest to a GH¢55 million embezzlement case, saying the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) never questioned him on the matter after his arrest.

The outspoken communicator was arrested on Sunday, July 12, by EOCO, which subsequently issued a statement on Monday detailing the reasons for his arrest and the charges against him.

According to EOCO, the arrest was part of a broader investigation into a forensic audit conducted in 2025 by the Inter Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCOD).

Aboagye, the company’s former Executive Secretary, together with its former accountant, Gerald Appiah, has been accused of misappropriating the GH¢55 million.

He was released after meeting a bail condition of GH¢50 million. Following his release, he took to Facebook to write: “For the records: there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million with me by EOCO. None!”

Aboagye said a false narrative had been created around his arrest to deceive Ghanaians, describing it as an attempt to break his resolve.

“A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth will prevail,” he said. “Let me be clear: if the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly.”

He thanked party supporters who stood by him after his arrest, saying their voices “did not just defend Dennis Miracles Aboagye; you defended the principle that no voice can be intimidated into silence.”

Aboagye also renewed his intention to contest for the position of Director of the party’s Communications Directorate, thanking his legal team, party leadership, and all who supported him.

“I will lead the New Patriotic Party’s Communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that. Fuel has only been added to the fire. To my legal team, party leadership, and every single supporter who stood with me thank you,” he concluded.
