Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, together with his legal team led by Lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi, has appeared before the Accra High Court in connection with the EXIM Bank case.
Speaking to the media ahead of the court proceedings, Lawyer Appiah-Kubi said the defence would be requesting additional time to conclude ongoing plea bargain negotiations.
“We are here today to respectfully ask the court to grant us more time to continue negotiations on the EXIM Bank case,” he stated.
He further explained that although the law allows one month to complete plea bargaining processes, the defence will seek an additional two weeks to finalise discussions with the Attorney-General.
“Under the law, we have one month to complete the plea bargaining process. We are therefore going to pray the court to grant us an additional two weeks to conclude the plea bargain with the Attorney-General,” he added.
