The Member of Parliament(MP) for the Oforikrom constituency, Michael Kwasi Aidoo has cleared the air on the minority caucus’ stance pertaining to the extortionist claims made against their leader Hon Afenyo-Markin by GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi saying the caucaus is solidly behind their leader.
The MP made the remarks in an interview session with Oheneba Aseidu on Wontumi Tv’s Morning Show.
“We the minority caucus are solidly behind our leader. He carries a heavy responsibility because of the position he occupies,” he said.
According to the Oforikrom lawmaker, the NDC is looking for ways to attack Afenyo-Markin because the leader’s work in calling for probity and accountability has been a thorn stuck in the NDC’s flesh.
“That is why we have also decided to remain firm and steadfast to support him so he continues the good work he is doing for the party,” he added.
He believes, the NDC is looking for ways to do away with Afenyo-Markin. He believes their plan is to break the minority caucus in Parliament. “But it will never happen, the minority is strong as it could be,” he said.
The party itself has come out in solidarity with the caucus and the leader, charging them to be relentless in their quest to uncover the truth behind the losses.
In a press conference led by its National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, the party said it is fully behind the minority stressing, “there is no confusion anywhere, we are fully behind the mighty Minority.”
The party further charged them to use every opening available to ensure that accountability is not left for the dogs.
“We also say this to the minority leader and every member of the caucus. Use every relevant law in the books, every question on the floor of Parliament, every committee hearing, every request for documents, every order paper, every point of order,” the party said.
