President John Dramani Mahama has assented to 10 Bills passed by Parliament, bringing them into law as part of his administration’s ongoing legislative and policy reforms.
The new laws cover key areas of governance including taxation, customs administration, energy, cocoa production, maritime offences, national defence and the administration of justice.
The Bills were passed by Parliament over the past month before being presented to the President for his assent, completing the legislative process required for them to become law.
The 10 Bills signed into law are: Customs Bill, 2026 Community Service Bill, 2026, Tribunal Bills, 2026, Maritime and Related Offences Bill, 2026, National Defence University Bill, 2026, Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Bill, 2026, Ghana Cocoa Board Bill, 2026, Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and Excise Bill, 2026
The Income Tax (Amendment), Value Added Tax (Amendment) and Excise Bills will introduce changes to Ghana’s tax framework, with implications for taxpayers and businesses while the Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Bill will seek to amend the legal framework governing levies within the energy sector.
The Ghana Cocoa Board Bill is set to provide a new framework for the operations of the Ghana Cocoa Board, while the Customs Bill addresses the administration and enforcement of customs related matters.
