The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has pleaded with the public to soften their stance against Prof. Ken Attafuah for the recent comment he made about recruitment.
Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi stated on Wontumi TV that Prof. Ken Attufuah might have failed to communicate well but deserves to be forgiven.
Prof. Ken Attafuah has stated that President Akufo-Addo has charged him not to hire or involve members of the NPP in any process at the National Identification Authority (NIA).
The NIA boss is on record to have said on another radio station that President Akufo-Addo’s vision is for him to build a neutral public service and so he [Attafuah] was doing what the law permits and in line with the President’s legacy.
But Chairman Wontumi advised him to immediately render an apology to the party and keep in mind it is members of the party who keep the party in power.
He maintained that winning the 2024 elections could be made difficult if dissatisfaction is created between government appointees and members of the NPP.
According to Chairman Wontumi, the NPP whilst in opposition managed to win power in 2016 with a margin of over 1 million votes; but the numbers dipped in 2020 to the region of 500,000 votes due to the vague created between government appointees and party members.
