Your Apology Not Acceptable, Come To Manhyia And Slaughter A Goat- Komfo Agyeman To Heward-Mills
Daasebre Obiri Komfo Agyeman has said that the Founder of Light House Chapel, Dag Heward-Mills’ apology to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is not acceptable.
He said, Dag Heward-Mills should come to the Manhyia palace and slaughter a goat before he would be forgiven.
According to the Obirikomfo who was speaking on Net2 TV flagship programme ‘The Seat’, and monitored by Wontumionline.com, he explained that Asanteman does not require a written form of apology so the man of God must come to the palace to render a proper apology.
He recalled that, when the Chief of Bantama offended the Asantehene, he crawled with his knees and begged for forgiveness.
“Bantama Chief has a lot of sub-chiefs under him yet he crawled to beg Otumfuo when he went astray,” he said.
Background
Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, has been in the news in a viral video for using Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as an example in a Kingship sermon where he questioned the relevance of chieftaincy.
The sermon on “Kingship” which Bishop Heward-Mills has explained was delivered more than 20 years ago has gone viral on social media recently.
Some people have threatened the Bishop for daring to question the relevance of chieftaincy, impact and legacy.
Apologising to the Asantehene, Bishop Heward-Mills explained that he preached nearly two decades ago and the content has been taken out of context “by persons who have previously declared their intention to bring harm and ridicule to our organisation [church]”.
In a press statement dated Saturday, June 19, 2021, Bishop Heward-Mills said the accomplishments of the Asantehene are evident and manifest for all to see.
“I am deeply saddened that a message I shared at a conference, nearly 20 years ago, has been taken out of its context and circulated by persons who have previously declared that they will maliciously cause our churches in Kumasi to be closed down”, it stated.
Not only does he extol Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as the Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) but also noted his achievement in building about 788 schools since he ascended the throne.
He, therefore, apologized for the content of the video.
“I deeply regret that my words spoken almost 20 years ago have offended this honourable institution, which has worked tirelessly for many years to make Ghana and the world a better place for all of us to live in.”
