You’ll Never  Be Promoted To Supreme Court Under Akuffo-Addo Administration – K.T. Hammond To Dormaahene

Hon. Kobina Tahir Hammond

The Minister of Trade and Industries who doubles as Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, Kobina Tahir Hammond he does not expect an opportunity to be offered the Dormaahene to join the highest court of the land, which is the Supreme Court under the rule of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo.

According to him the Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II has deprived himself of every opportunity to be considered as a fair-minded and knowledgeable lawyer when it comes to the application of the laws of the land and thus, doesn’t deserve to serve in the highest court.

Hon Tahir Hammonf who was speaking on Ekosii Sen political talk show programme in Accra acknowledged that, by virtue of his recent pronouncements on the trial of the Assin North MP Hon Joseph Gyakye Quayson, the Dormaahene has not only breached the law but also reduced his integrity as a high court judge to nothingness.

The Trade Minister fired back: “the constitution that you disagree with is not in the realm of the chieftaincy institution which has its own set of rules and regulations rooted in tradition. But here is a situation where he chose to comment on the Gyakye Quayson’s case in a bipartisan manner which has exposed his partisanship and hypocrisy. He doesn’t have the legal and moral right to do say that”

He said the comments do not only discredit the Attorney-General but his colleague judges who are sitting on the case with a mandate defined by the constitution.

“Gyakye Quayson is not bigger that any individual in this country, besides the laws have worked on a similar case before leading to a judgment which was independently pronounced therefore nobody should call for nolle prosequi. The NDC leaders are hypocrites as far as this case is concerned so let’s respect the laws and protect it”

The Minister teased, ” the Dormaahene is an NDC member that is why he is doing the things he does.”
