You Lie, You Cannot Remove President From Office- Nana Obiri Boahen Fumes At Speaker
The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen has affirmed that Speaker, Alban Bagbin has no power to impeach President Akufo-Addo.
Lawyer Obiri Boahen fretted that, “Speaker should dare not. He cannot remove President Akufo-Addo.”
He was speaking on Wontumi Radio Morning Show Tuesday.
The NPP Deputy General Secretary’s comment comes in reaction to Alban Bagbin’s statement that the law gives Parliament the powers to remove a president but does not give the same powers to a president to be able to remove a Speaker of Parliament.
According to the Private Legal Practitioner perhaps, the speaker made such an unguarded utterance to be famous.
Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen stated that “removing the speaker from office, you just need two-thirds of the MPs but removing the President is not an easy chore.”
