The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has responded to a false statement by former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Inusah Fuseini that majority of those involved in the galamsey business are bigwigs of the NPP.
Interacting with Wontumionline.com shortly after Inusah Fuseini “lied” on another radio station, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly Chairman Wontumi stated that it was rather the former minister and the brother of former President John Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama that were neck-deep in galamsey.
The former minister has said that “Chairman Wontumi is not a miner; he is rather a mine support service provider. He has the equipment to support people who have the license and permit to prospect mining sites. He does not have a mining license; in fact, when I was in office as the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Wontumi did not have a mining license”.
But according to Chairman Wontumi, it was rather Inusah Fuseini who used his position to offer mine support service to Ibrahim Mahama to engage in galamsey when he knew the latter didn’t have the right license.
Former President John Mahama was also part of the galamsey business, Chairman Wontumi added.
He continued that at the tail end of John Mahama’s Presidency when he had lost the 2016 elections, he granted a company belonging to his brother Ibrahim Mahama a long lease bauxite concession at Nyinahin.
According to him, Mr. Mahama wanted to connive with his brother Ibrahim Mahama and steal a national asset worth $460 billion of which Alhaji Inusah Fuseini played a key role.
