You Hate CJ; Took $100K To Hire Kevin Taylor To Denigrate The Court- Chief Exposes Lawyer Afrifa
Chief Justice, Anin-Yeboah

Ogyeedom Obranu Kwesi Atta VI, Gomoa Afransi Hene has rubbished claims that he paid moneys to his lawyer to be given to Chief Justice, Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah as bribe for favorable judgement.

He has stated that he is disappointed in his lawyer, Akwasi Afrifa who was bent on hiring the services a social media commentator, Kevin Taylor to “deal” with the Chief Justice rather than use his legal prowess to win them the case at the Supreme Court.

Akwasi Afrifa, Esq and his client, the plaintiff in the matter of OGYEEDOM OBRANU KWESI ATTA IV V GHANA TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY & LANDS COMMISSION cast a slur on the Chief Justice alleging that he demanded a bribe of Five Million United States Dollars ($5 million) from them.

But the plaintiff has reacted to the claims noting that he has never given money to his lawyer to bribe the Chief Justice.

In an exclusive interview on Wontumi TV which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, the Gomoa Afransi Hene stated that Akwasi Afrifa was never his substantive lawyer and constantly exhibited disrespect to the judges of the Supreme Court anytime their case was heard.

“He charged GHC300,000 as legal fees for the case though he wasn’t my substantive lawyer. I catered for his air travel and hotel so I gave him an additional GHC 10,000. He later came to me that I should give him $200,000”, Ogyeedom Obranu Kwesi Atta VI revealed.

The $200,000 as demanded by Akwasi Afrifa, Esq was to be used as “ways and means” a statement that didn’t sit well with the Chief.

“I paid him $100,000 and asked him what it would be used for. He later told it is for ways and means. I didn’t like his statement so I informed the principal lawyer about his act. The principal lawyer said I shouldn’t pay the rest and that he doesn’t operate that way” Ogyeedom Obranu Kwesi Atta VI said.

Chief Justice reacts

The Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah has denied allegations that he demanded a bribe of Five Million United States Dollars ($5 million) from one Ogyeedom Obranu Kwesi Atta IV, a party to case before the Supreme court, for a favorable judgement.

A letter to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service signed by the Judicial Secretary, Justice Cynthia Pamela Addo, said the Chief Justice is “saddened” that his name has been dragged “into this sordid and potentially criminal matter”.

According to Chief Justice he does not know the person in question and has neither demanded nor received any money.

“His Lordship confirms that he does not know the plaintiff and has not met or seen him anywhere, except in the court room when he rises to announce his name when his case is called. His Lordship asserts that he has had no personal interaction either with the plaintiff or his lawyer on this matter or in any other matter. His Lordship further asserts that he has not demanded or received any money from any person to influence any decision in this matter or any other matter.”

He thus wants the CID to investigate the matter.

“To ensure that this matter is fully investigated, His Lordship has directed that a formal complaint be made to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service for investigations and any necessary action. He has further directed that a Petition be lodged with the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council in respect of this specific matter.”
