You don’t Sit On A Stool… You Don’t Rule A Village- Chief Bares Teeth At Kweku Baako

As Editor of a newspaper, Kweku Baako’s mandate comes to play when he is editing words and for this reason, the Chief of Akwanserehene of Akyem Kwabeng, has warned him to stop passing disparaging remarks about Chiefs who have the power to govern a community.

Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II, in an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, stated that Kweku Baako must stop the naming calling and tagging Chiefs as “Kindergarten kids” because they have decided to show their support to a respective political party.

In his view, Mr. Baako is quick to go to court and sue for defamation if someone calls him a name he doesn’t like but is quick to call Chiefs names that can equally land him in trouble.

Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II remarked that “When someone speaks against you (Kweku Baako), you go to court for defamation so what do you expect the chiefs to also do to you for calling them kindergarten people? You don’t sit on a stool and you don’t rule a village you are only a seasoned journalist and you are privilege to a microphone”.

He added that the comment attributed to the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper could best be classified as one “below the belt.

Probably you don’t travel around Ghana so you don’t know the development going on in the country. You hit below the belt. Maybe no chief would reply you but bear in mind that you goofed. Should the chiefs praise the president in their bedrooms?” he sarcastically quizzed.

Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, in an interview on an Accra based radio station which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, stated that “let us be bold and tell our chiefs that they are wrong… What kind of nonsense is this?…The chiefs can appreciate developmental projects brought to their communities, but to proceed to endorse and declare electoral support is wrong. Even though the chiefs are educated they are behaving like kindergarten kids“.
