A senior lecturer and respected figure in the Muslim community, Mr. Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey has found fault with Mr. John Mahama’s inability to grace the recently held 2nd Akwasidae celebrations to pay homage to Asantehene.
Mr. Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey described the move by the former President as a direct disrespect to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II because he (Mahama) was in the region to embark on his personal campaign tour but refused to step foot at the Manhyia palace last Sunday.
“He didn’t come to greet Otumfuo and he was in Ashanti region. You come here to campaign but refused to go and greet Otumfuo…but when you go to Savannah region to campaign, you will go and greet Yagbonwura and identify yourself before you campaign”, Mr. Kyei-Brobbey said.
However vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Samira Bawumia, graced the 2nd Akwasidae celebrations and went before the Asantehene to pay their homage.
On the back of the development, Mr. Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey stated that he doesn’t foresee Mr. Mahama beating vice President Bawumia in the 2024 elections.
“You will see how Bawumia would box him the ring, you will feel it…there would be skirt and blouse voting in Northern region”, he said which would favour the NPP.
