You Created TESCON And So What? I Felt ‘Abused’ By That Decision- Chairman Wontumi

Chairman Wontumi has opened up on how he was left hurt and abused by the decision of members of his party to prevent some representatives from the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) from voting during their Ashanti Regional Conference.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took a swipe at the individuals behind the decision noting that “for someone to say he established TESCON so he wouldn’t let them vote hurt me.”

Members of the students’ wing of the New Patriotic Party, TESCON were prevented from participating the party’s elections which was held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Without mentioning names, Chairman Wontumi stated on Wontumi TV that the person, who prevented the students once, had issues in his constituency and it took him (Chairman Wontumi) to resolve it.

He therefore felt betrayed and labeled the decision to prevent the student an abusive one.

Chairman Wontumi insisted that any decision with regards to how elections are held in Ashanti region, has to come from the National Executive Committee (NEC).

“In Ashanti region, it is the NEC that takes every decision when it comes to an election but all of a sudden, they formed a committee that was taking charge of the election”, Chairman Wontumi said to highlight the machination against him during the election.
