The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has sent a strong warning to the entire members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and promised to foil their impending demonstration.
The youth wing of the NDC have sent a notice to the police stating that it will organize a street protest dubbed ‘A March for Justice’ on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
Their reason for the protest is to demand justice for all persons killed or brutalized by the various security agencies in the country.
In a letter written to the Inspector General of Police, the NDC youth wing said it was writing to the police in accordance with the Public Order Act (491).
But the NPP Chairman alias Chairman Wontumi responded to their request by warning that he would also organize his group to counter the NDC on the same day if they (NDC) should defy the Police order.
“There is no sense in the plan by Mahama and NDC to hold a demonstration. I will also organize my people to meet them equally…The NPP likes going by laws too much”, he said.
He described Mr. Mahama’s decision to send the NDC to Ejura following the killings of some youth as very “foolish”.
Chairman Wontumi’s reason is that the former President didn’t take the same step he is taking now when his own party members killed their colleague in the presence of Asiedu Nketia and Ofosu Ampofo in Ashanti region before the 2020 elections.
He therefore wondered what has changed for him to take adavantage of a situation at Ejura which has no political connection.
Chairman Wontumi explained that the move by the NDC to hold a demonstration is to pave way for more people to die.
He challenged Mr. Mahama to bring his children to the demonstration if he believes it is for a good reason.
