A decision by the Akufo-Addo led government to feed all final year Junior High School (JHS) students and staff in both public and private schools across Ghana, has shattered the Presidential ambition of former President John Mahama, the Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has said.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako explains to viewers and listeners of the Wontumi Morning Show that the former President isn’t happy the students are also blessing and praying for President Akufo-Addo after enjoying the hot meals at school.

“John Mahama isn’t a happy that Ghanaian children are now praying for President Akufo-Addo and not him”, the NPP Chairman known as Chairman Wontumi explained.

He added that the former President has decided to raise his children and Dubai and bought luxurious vehicle for them to drive; yet is jealous the ordinary Ghanaian child is benefiting heavily from the good governance of President Akufo-Addo.

“Are your children better than our children in Ghana? You have bought Mercedes Benz for them to drive in Dubai and you don’t want the betterment of our children attending JHS in Ghana”, Chairman Wontumi emphasized.

In his 15th national address on measures being taken against the spread of COVID-19 on Sunday night [August 16, 2020], President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said he has received reports that the students and their staff were going hungry in complying with the COVID-19 safety protocols.

“As a result of reports I have recently received that some final year JHS students were going hungry, in complying with COVID-19 protocols, I have just instructed the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to begin preparations to ensure that from 24th August up to 18th September all 584,000 final JHS students and 146,000 staff both in public and private schools be given one hot meal a day. This is to ensure full observance of the COVID-19 safety protocols,” the president said.
