“You Are Imposter”, Dombo Family Disowns Lambussie MP

The first granddaughter of the late Chief S.D Dombo, a founding father of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has contested claims by the Member of Parliament for Lambussie-Karni Constituency in the Upper West Region that he is a grandson of the late Dombo.

Hon Yelvieldong Bakye Bright Balig ignited heated controversy when he claimed in a video circulating on social media, that he is a direct grandson of the late Chief S D Dombo but the granddaughter of the late Chief, Mrs Irene Ponu-Brenyah, has however, disputed the MP’s claim.
She noted that an investigation she conducted revealed the MP’s assertion ‘as a palpable lie” and vehemently denied Hon Balig’s claim of being a grandson of Chief S.D Dombo, referring to him as an “imposter.”

She revealed that sources familiar with the lineage indicate that Yelvieldong Bakye Bright Balig hails from Kpare in the Lambussie-Karni District of the Upper West Region and his father’s roots can be traced to the Chief’s palace of Kpare, while his mother’s lineage is linked to the Karni Chief’s palace.

Mrs. Ponu-Brenyah argued, however, that the late Chief S D Dombo’s true ancestral home is in Jirapa-Duori.

She said, “I am putting it on record that the late Chief S D Dombo hailed from Jirapa- Duori in the Jirapa Municipality of the Upper West Region.

“Now, let me make it categorically clear that the claim by the “imposter” that the late Chief S D Dombo is or was his grandfather is palpably false”

“Simply put, Hon Yelvieldong Bakye Bright Balig is not a member of the Dombo family and should do the needful as an honourable member of parliament,” she cautioned
