YEA Partners UniJay Fashions To Create Job Openings For 400 Youth Of Asokwa
The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), a government agency last Friday officially launched a partnership module with UNIJAY Fashions, a private company to give training to 400 youth in Asokwa.
The project, according to the Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Justin Frimpong Koduah would train the youth in sewing and all forms of fashion designing.
He noted that apart from the training the project is intended to give to the 400 beneficiaries, YEA would also give them a monthly stipend of GHC 400.00.
Lawyer Koduah also revealed that the project by end of the year would be extended to give additional space to 600 youth to learn the art of sewing.
CEO OF UNIJAY:
Welcoming the initiative, Madam Janet Abobigu, CEO of UNIJAY Fashions said the project would give lifetime training to the beneficiaries who can then move on to make a living out of same when their time is due to pass out.
She said sewing and fashion designing offer great opportunities to the youth when the craft is learnt well.
Madam Abobigu said those who took the training she offers at the center seriously go on to become masters of the craft and earn a living out of same when they pass out to become independent.
She commended the YEA CEO and the Asokwa Municipal Assembly as well as the MP for Asokwa for variously contributing to the success of the roll out and called on the public to support the initiative for it to succeed.
STAKEHOLDERS:
Addressing the gathering on behalf of the Regional Minister, Madam Emelia Botchway, Coordinating Director at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council said the initiative was a far sighted one.
She noted that the project possesses the potential of giving training to all the youth in Asokwa whose interest is in the art of sewing and designing of clothing.
Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa, Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah pledged the Assembly’s support for the project and commended the YEA and UNIJAY for such collaborative effort which is aimed at giving training to the youth of Asokwa.
MP for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiagyei on her part urged beneficiaries to take advantage of the initiative and learn the craft well so that they could be on their own when they pass out and earn a living out of same.
