Wontumi Supports Kwadaso Market Fire Victims With GH¢100k

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has donated GH¢100,000 to support traders following a devastating fire that swept through parts of the Kwadaso market.

The fire, which started in the early hours of Thursday, August 1, 2024, destroyed over 40 shops causing significant financial loss to the traders.

Chairman Wontumi expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the victims. He said his primary focus is to assist those directly impacted by the fire.

“My wish is to support the entire market, but due to the tragedy, my focus is on the fire victims. Myself, together with the party, want to donate GH¢100,000 to boost them and help them bounce back on their feet,” he said during the donation ceremony.

He handed wads of cash to the market queens to provide immediate relief to those who lost their livelihoods in the blaze.

Traders at the market’s M line, where the fire caused the most damage, mourned the loss of millions of cedis worth of goods, including fabrics, footwear, frozen foods, plantain, yam, and more.

The incident has left many traders in a state of despair as they grapple with the financial impact of the destruction.
