Wontumi Shakes Offinso North…Dashes Any Hope Of An NDC Return

The widespread perception that the ruling NPP is loosing its grips on the Offinso North constituency has completely been shot down as the Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, last Tuesday, stormed the constituency.

The overwhelming crowd, mostly the youth, that thronged the streets to welcome the party chairman, seemed to have dazed the opposition NDC, who, after seeing the charged crowd did not only flee from their campaign office, but has ultimately dashed any hope of making the attempt to claim the Parliamentary seat.

Right from the Parliamentary candidate’s office through to the principal streets of the constituency, it was evident that the Offinso North constituency remains solid behind the NPP.

According to the constituents, their resolve to retain the NPP in the general elections in December, stems from the fact that, the last eight years, especially, has seen tremendous difference in their personal lives as well as the constituency.

They are, therefore, of the firm belief that, the only way to keep forward in life and protect their future is to ensure the retention of the NPP with a landslide electoral victory for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah as their next President and Member of Parliament, respectively.

To the people in the constituency, the NDC does not offer any hope to the future of the youth, and will make what has been portrayed by the opposition National Democratic Congress to the effect that the NPP has lost touch with the grassroot a reality.

Chairman Wontumi told the good people of the Constituency to continue to vote for progress, noting that if the people make the mistake of voting against the government, the wave of development will stop blowing.

What seemed to have energised the constituents is the visible show of unity amongst the leadership in the constituency.

It was quite a worrying sight in the constituency, after the Parliamentary elections which saw Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah win the slot, started showing evidence of camps instead of a united front.

However, with the works by the Regional Chairman as well as the other key persons in the party, peace was brokered, and the result was evident during last Tuesday’s visit by Chairman Wontumi.

To the constituents, including market women, taxi drivers, seamstresses, welders, beauticians, the unity, coupled with level of preparedness exhibited by the Parliamentary candidate, is what has energised and given them a strong sense of hope that the party is ready for the election.

The Regional chairman, charged by the presence of the thick crowd, challenged them to campaign vigorously to increase their votes margin for both Dr Bawumia and their PC.

Every word that came out of the mouths of both Wontumi and Fred Asamoah was greeted with cheers and shouts of ecstacy from the crowd, a clear indication of widespread acceptance of Dr. Bawumia and their PC.

Chairman Wontumi reminded them to cast their minds back to the days of John Mahama, where parents had to struggle to send their children to the secondary school.

He recounted to them of the sad moments when parents who are mostly farmers had to use their farms or huge farm produce as collateral for loans, just to have their children access education at the secondary level.

And, he explained to them that any mistake to return the NDC to power is to fast track the return of those unfortunate period, urging them to jealously guard the gains made so far by the NPP government.
