With Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party would no longer be in a defensive mood but would rather, be in an attacking mode and taking the “war” to strongholds of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah has said.
The Ashanti regional minister in a one-on-one interview on the Wontumi Morning Show stated that in the past elections, the NPP has always allowed the NDC to bring the “fight” to them in their strongholds whilst they allow their opponent to have a field day in theirs.
He specifically mentioned Volta and Northern region as areas where the NPP has allowed the NDC to have enough breathing space whilst the NDC is able to make gains in the Ashanti region.
He therefore observed that with the election of vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer for the NPP, the party would be able to take a chunk of the NDC’s votes in the Northern regions to make up for the votes they have lost in the past.
“We want a candidate who can protect our stronghold but would be able to take the fight to the NDC in their stronghold. We (NPP) will no longer defend, we have to also attack. We have to vote for the person who can take the fight to the NDC in their stronghold”, he said.
