The Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has given one reason voters should never trust and promise from former President John Dramani Mahama.

The NPP Chairman in an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, questioned Mr. Mahama on reasons he used his office as former President to unlawfully seize his 500 excavators and go to the extreme of burning other vehicles he was using for his mining operations.

According to the NPP Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the despicable act of the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should serve as warning to voters and every small scale miner out there.

He called on the mining community to reject the promise of the flagbearer of the NDC adding that he was only making an empty promise.

Referencing former President Mahama directly, Chairman Wontumi asked “why did you seize my excavators and burn the rest? Am I not a Ghanaian?” adding that  “it is an empty promise you are making”.

National Democratic Congress’ Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama has guaranteed his government will see to the return of confiscated mining licenses, concessions and excavators to small scale miners should he be voted back into office.

John Mahama speaking at the launch of the NDC’s 2020 Manifesto at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), stated that the move would promote legal and properly regulated and operated medium and small scale mining in the country.

But Chairman Wontumi reminded miners that Mr. John Mahama is a man you can’t trust and called on them to maintain President Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to the NPP Chairman, Mr. Mahama, used his influence as President to favour his brother Ibrahim Mahama to own bauxite concession which belongs to the state.

He added that it took the intervention of the present government led by President Akufo-Addo to reverse the bad decision taken by former President Mahama.
