Ghanaian actor and politician John Dumelo has shared an emotional tribute to late actress Beverly Afaglo, revealing how deeply she impacted his life and career.
Reacting to the shocking news of Beverly’s passing, Dumelo took to Instagram to reflect on their nearly 2 decades of friendship, which began on the set of the popular television series About to Wed in Dzorwulu.
“About 20 years ago I walked into the set of ‘About to Wed’ in Dzorwulu. That’s when I met Beverly Afaglo, Prince David Osei, and Yvonne Okyere,” he wrote.
The actor praised Beverly for believing in him and helping him discover his full potential during the early stages of his acting career.
“We starred in one of the best TV series, and Bev brought out the best in me,” he stated.
John Dumelo also disclosed that Beverly once connected him to a movie producer for a role that later became a major breakthrough in his career.
“Bev calls and says, ‘John, call Salam, they need someone to play the role of a King,’” he recalled.
According to him, that opportunity led to his role in King is Mine, a movie he says changed his journey in the Ghanaian film industry forever.
Overcome with emotion, Dumelo ended his tribute with touching words that have since moved many fans online.
“I am glad you are resting peacefully now… one day, when I decide to write a book, your name will fill pages,” he wrote.
