Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has slammed Energy Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka Napo for allegedly claiming that people in the Ashanti Region need party paraphernalia, particularly party T-shirts and not development.
Reacting angrily to the comments on the ‘Mmra Ne Abrabo Mu Nsem’ show, the celebrated lawyer claimed the statements were “nonsense” and shouldn’t have been made in the first place.
“For you to come and say that the only thing Ashantis need are t-shirts…what do you mean- that they don’t like developments? What kind of nonsense is that? What kind of nonsense is that Napo?” lawyer Ampaw quizzed on live TV.
Some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region are also angry over Napo’s recent comments.
Speaking under the umbrella of an emerging NPP Group, soon to be out-doored in the Ashanti Region, “NPP Activists for Development,” Leader of the Group, Kwabena Opoku Agyemang, flanked by his two Deputies, Ernest K. Youngman and Kakra Owusu, lamented the fact that Napo has allowed his inexperience to lead him while asking that he must learn to act maturely both in words and actions, particularly any time he mounts political platforms.’
“A person of his caliber and stature must not speak like that. This is someone we thought was positioning himself well for a Vice Presidential position in the near future, but to make these derogatory remarks publicly against your people in the name of politics, is shameful and unacceptable and we condemn such anti-party comments in no uncertain terms.”
