What Dialogue? Use Brutal Force To Crush Secessionists- Kweku Baako Tells Gov’t

The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has warned the Government of Ghana not to dialogue with the secessionist group that is fomenting trouble in the Volta region.

Speaking on Peacefm which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, the renowned Ghanaian journalist advised the sitting government to use Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s method to flush out and destroy the plans of the people creating chaos for Ghana.

In a statement by the Western Togoland separatists, they called for an immediate exit of all Ghanaian security forces from the Volta Region.

The group has also asked the government to come to the negotiation table or the will not back down.

But Mr. Baako stated that rather than holding a dialogue with the separatists, the government of President Akufo-Addo must use brutal force to stop the secessionist group just like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah did in 1957.

In 1957, Nkrumah used force to crush them. If today they want to destroy properties and go this tangent, we should crush them”, he advised.

He went further and quizzed the motive for calling for dialogue with the Government of Ghana stating that “what are we going to negotiate with them…dialogue with who and for what?

In a related development, government has said that it has information on people who are funding the activities of secessionist group, Homeland Study Group Foundation.

Earlier, armed members of the group have allegedly been demanding the secession of Western Togoland from Ghana, blockading major entry points to the Volta region.

Local sources have said that the group held police officers hostage and attacked two police stations. The government has ordered authorities to apprehend the group whom it says “poses a threat” to national security.
