The Ashanti Youth Association, is threatening to close down all 78 churches belonging to Lighthouse Chapel International if their head Pastor doesn’t render proper apology over comments, they believe were derogatory and made against the Asantehene,  Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

They have given Bishop Dag Heward-Mills 48 hours to “seek wise counsel” and act quickly before they take actions to close down his churches found within Ashanti region.

Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has been caught on an audio chiding the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

According to him, the reign of the King was useless and unbeneficial to his subjects.

Following the backlash the audio has generated, the founder of Lighthouse Chapel International has personally penned a letter apologizing to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and stating that the audio was made some 20 years ago.

A portion of his statement read: I am deeply saddened that a message I shared at a conference nearly 20 years ago has been taken out of its context and circulated by persons who have previously declared that they will maliciously cause our churches in Kumasi to be closed down”.

But reacting to his apology and the content found on the audio on Wontumi TV, Kwabena Frimpong, the General Secretary for Ashanti Youth Association stated that Bishop Heward-Mills’ apology was a disrespect and they expect him to appear in person and render a proper apology to the King.

“He can’t sit in Accra and write letter to the King. It is against the customs and traditions of Ghana”, Kwabena Frimpong said on the show.
