The fortunes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) depends on Ashanti region and for that reason, they must work harder to win the party power in 2024, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah has said.
President Akufo-Addo ascendency to power came as a result of the Ashanti region’s resolve the Ashanti regional Minister explained in an address to delegates during the party’s annual delegates conference.
“We are the king makers when it comes to the fortunes of the NPP. We must fight harder to win the 2024 elections”, he challenged.

Money War
He used the occasion to call on the party not to indulge in propaganda started by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) urging his party members to stay focused and united.
Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah explained that when it comes to money, the NDC has amassed more wealth than the NPP but the latter was more organised in winning election than the former.
He continued that from 1992, data has shown that money can’t be the only reason elections are won noting that “in 2000, if money had determined, Kufuor wouldn’t have come to power”.
In 2016, candidate Akufo-Addo wouldn’t have been able to beat ex-President John Mahama is the elections was about money.
“The NDC has all the money but lost in the elections. It is unity within the party that keeps us in power. Division would take us to opposition”, he advised.
