Walewale MP to file injunction at Tamale High Court today

The incumbent Member of Parliament for Walewale constituency in the North East region, Hajia Lariba Zuwera Abudu, is expected to file an injunction today at the Tamale High Court on the declaration of Dr Mahama Tiah Abdul-Kabiru  as the parliamentary candidate elect for the New Patriotic Party heading into this year’s general elections.

The MP believes the election was fraudulently declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) to favor Dr KB Mahama as he is popularly known.

He reportedly obtained 345 votes against 338 votes polled by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hajia Lariba Zuwera Abudu. The other two contestants in the race, Tahiru Sham-an and Jangdow Mahama had 145 and 1 votes respectively.

Our source gathered on Sunday that the Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister was seeking legal advice from his lawyers in preparation of the lawsuit today.

She believes the results were fraudulently declared by the elections governing body to favor the candidate declared as the winner.

It was observed that some disputed ballot papers were allegedly added to the results which gave an advantage to the eventual candidate elect. It is also believed that the electoral commission officials were compromised during the process.

Consequently, the polling agent of the legislator declined to append his signature on the declaration sheet in protest of how the process was conducted.

He also called for a recount of the ballots but the EC officials blatantly refused to oblige to the request which is fundamental in every electoral process.

Our Sources also gathered from deep throat sources closer to the corridors of the Office of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, that the 2024 NPP Presidential Candidate was not pleased with the outcome of the polls.
