Vote for Bawumia to bring reform to the prisons service – Lecturer charges

A lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Dr. Solomon Kwarteng Fokuo has urged electorates to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the coming general elections.

In his view, the flagbearer is the only leader who can introduce reform in the prisons service.

He believes in Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy, citing transformational policies that will bring about significant change when he emerges winner on December 7.

Speaking on Wontumi Morning Show, on 22nd August, 2024, he highlighted the poor state of prisoners, stressing the urgent need for reform.

“Perpetrators are sentenced to imprisonment because they need to repent from whatever sin they committed. If you steal someone’s asset and you are jailed, there is no way you will come back and continue stealing.

“There are levels of punishment. An individual who steals a hen is not expected to get the same punishment as someone who raped a young girl but that is what we see in the prisons.

If you even look at how they survive there, it is not easy. One cedi, 80 pesewas for each person is a very low amount. This is why we need to vote Dr. Bawumia to improve their conditions” he explained.

He further said that Dr. Bawumia is innovative and has  bold solutions for the country.

“Bawumia is always a stand out from the ordinary person. His innovative personality is immeasurable. One of his policies is to help the aged. This clearly indicates that he is  selfless” he added.
