A former head porter ‘Kayayei’, called Sakina has recounted on the Friday edition of Wontumi TV Morning Show how engagement in the business has been.

According to her, the Kayayei work is no effortless job.

She said the work is done without passion adding that they carry stuff that is above their strength.

Sakina bemoaned that she was only getting Ghc50 in a week.

The former kayayei worker indicated that she engaged in the work while having children.

“I met a man when I was in the business and he was a trotro mate so he wasn’t financially stable to let me stop the work,” Sakina cried.

The mother of four said that it has been four years now since she quit Kayayei.

“What made me stop is when I am about to go to work, one of my children asks me Mummy are you going to do ‘paopaa’ and I respond no. So I thought he has heard something about the work and it made me relinquish,” she disclosed.

Sakina revealed that she now sells men’s wear.
