The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has grieved about the number of people who pay taxes in the country saying they are scanty.
According to GUTA, the taxpayers are not up to two million of the country’s population.
Speaking on Wontumi TV Morning Show, National Vice Chairman of GUTA, Clement Boateng said more people are needed in the tax net to accelerate development.
Clement Boateng said the Vice President’s Digitization policy has made the number increase but is not encouraging.
He admitted that tax is difficult to pay “especially when working in the private sector.”
The GUTA National Vice Chairman urged the GRA and NCCE to educate Ghanaians on the need to pay taxes.
