A grassroot group of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ‘Patriotic Movement For Dr Bawumia’ is appalled over pressure on the party’s flagbearer, Dr Bawumia in selecting his running mate for the December 7, elections .
The group comprises NPP constituency executives, grassroots and diehard supporters of the party.
According to them, Dr. Bawumia can select the most suitable person for the running mate position if Ghanaians do not pester him.
There have been controversies regarding who will be the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
At a press conference in Kumasi, addressed by Mr. James Aggrey Fiifi Eshun, the convener of the group said that, the selection of a running mate requires an intensive consultation with party executives, stressing how, the pressure from stakeholders can affect the party.
“We pleading with our flagbearer of our party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, not to succumb to the pressure from Ghanaians to unveil his running mate for the upcoming elections.
We are also cautioning people who are intentionally presenting their preferred candidates to the office of Bawumia.
This will adversely affect the NPP if it does not end immediate.
In addition, we are entreating Dr. Bawumia to take his time and select a competent person” he highlighted.
