The latest measures announced by President Akufo-Addo on measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in Ghana, has been described as unimpressive by private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw.
He proposed on the Wontumi TV that he had expected President Akufo-Addo to impose another lockdown on Ghanaians to send a strong signal for protocols to be observed.
Last Sunday, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, addressed the nation on updates relating to the enhanced response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
He stated that the imposition of restrictions on our daily routines helped in reducing the prevalence of the pandemic in the country, and Government has been left with no option but to re-introduce some of these restrictions in order to help save the situation.
Until further notice, the President announced that funerals, weddings, concerts, theatrical performances, and parties are banned.
Adding that private burials, with no more than twenty-five (25) people, can take place, with the enforcement of the social distancing, hygiene and mask wearing protocols.
But Lawyer Ampaw noted that most Ghanaians by their nature, turn to dare the system and are disrespectful.
“I expected the President to lock us down for two days“, he maintained.
“I am not impressed with the update the President gave. There was no sense of urgency in what he said because Ghanaians by their nature, are stubborn and sometimes not serious” Maurice Ampaw gave as reasons for his stance on the recent announcement by the President.
