(VIDEO) Parliament Had More Than Quorum To Pass The E- Levy- Deputy Finance Minister
Deputy Minister of Finance, Lawyer John Kumah has revealed that Parliament had the maximum number of legislators to pass the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy) into law yesterday, Tuesday, 29/03/2022.
According to Lawyer John Kumah, some Minority MPs were at the chamber during the time their leader, Haruna Iddrisu told the Speaker they won’t be part of the E-levy debate and they staged a walkout.
Giving details on the E-levy passage on Wontumi TV Morning Show, the Ejisu MP said, every MP especially the majority MPs were ready for the day.
He said the bill has been in Parliament since it was tabled and has never been withdrawn.
He hinted that, Majority leader, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu did a remarkable work during the debate and must be commended.
Lawyer John Kumah indicated that President Akufo- Addo will append his signature and Ghanaians will witness the benefit of the E-levy.
He noted that the date for the bill to take effect will be communicated in due time.
