Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen has chastised the Senior Presidential Advisor, Osafo Marfo over his alleged ethnocentric comment.
In a leaked audio, the Senior Advisor to the President is heard saying Asantes were nowhere near the struggle for the country’s independence but his forefathers from the Eastern region are the people who led the struggle and fought for Ghana.
Speaking on Wontumi TV Morning Show on Friday, Lawyer Boahen said it’s not correct for Osafo Marfo to spew such an unguarded statement.
He said every ethnic group or Region played an integral role in the country’s struggle for independence.
He said the struggle for independence is dated back to the Bond of 1844, the Sagarenti War, the Yaa Asantewaa War, the Nii Kwabena Bonne III boycott, etc.
