Not every member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) feels pity for the manhandling some NPP legislators, suffered in the hands of National Democratic Congress legislators prior to the election of a new Speaker of Parliament.
Mr. Richard Boadi Soadwa, a staunch member of the NPP believes his party MPs deserve the beatings and slaps they received on the floor of Parliament for refusing to come together to vote for the party’s nominee that was presented for the Speakership position.
Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, the NPP man stated that majority of Ghanaians had expected the 138 NPP MPs to have voted for Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye to maintain his position as Speaker because they have majority in Parliament.
He explained that “we can only blame the MPs for letting us down. With all the brouhaha happening in Parliament with regards to the formation of the appointment committees, it gives us room to blame some of the MPs who contributed to our downfall. They have to come out and apologize for their conduct.”
Touching on the fight that broke out in the house on the day of voting for a new Speaker, Mr. Richard Boadi Soadwa boldly stated that the NPP MPs deserve the beatings and slaps they received from the NDC MPs.
“They deserve the slaps and beatings they received; yes they deserve it because they have given room for all this to happen. Do you believe that if all the 138 NPP MPs voted for Prof. Oquaye, this would have happened?” he quizzed.
