A political analyst is appealing to President Akufo-Addo to stamp his authority and weed out every person with selfish interest when it comes to tackling the issue of illegal mining.
Making his point on Wontumi TV, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II explained that the approach to illegal mining nearly cost the New Patriotic Party the 2020 elections and for that reason, he expects President Akufo-Addo to block “greedy bastards” from playing an active role in that sector in his second tenure.
“The issue of mining activities specifically illegal mining affected the NPP because it wasn’t handled well. We should find a nice approach of dealing with the issue. The new minister must broaden the scope and bring on board the people into the mining activities”, he suggested.
He however warned that the NPP would be doomed “if we allow only few people at the top to take decision on the matter; it will affect the NPP.”
