Former deputy Ashanti Regional Minister under the erstwhile Mahama administration, Joseph Yamin, is to be blamed for the flourishing of galamsey operations in the region, Kwame Baffoe has said.
The Bono Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party accused Mr. Yamin of usurping the powers of his boss Mr. Samuel Sarpong because was against illegal mining in the region because of the negative implications it leaves behind.
Calling out Joseph Yamin on the Nsempa Fie show which airs on Wontumi TV, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye stated that “Samuel Sarpong was against galamsey but his deputy (Yamin) was for it. Till date, they don’t talk to each other.”

Abronye further described Samuel Sarpong’s decision to kick against galamsey as a sensible one and Mr. Yamin’s position on the matter as a “stupid” one which strangely received an endorsement from former President John Mahama.
Roping in the former President, Abronye noted that Mr. Mahama agreed to the “foolish decision” to support galamsey operations and even took another bad decision by suspending an inter-ministerial committee that was set-up to reduce illegal mining.
