Having served the New Patriotic Party for long, the Chief Executive Officer of Public Sector Reforms, Mr. Kusi Boafo, has candidly stated that the only way to tame the National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti region, is to maintain Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako as their Regional Chairman.
In an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, the NPP stalwart revealed that he has had time to interact with the top hierarchy of the party after the 2020 elections, and they have all expressed satisfaction with the performance that came from the Ashanti region.
He further disclosed that the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. John Mahama invested heavily in the Ashanti region to improve his 2020 chances but was properly dealt with by strategic plans Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi had in place.
According to Mr. Kusi Boafo, the NDC’s “tablet in Ashanti region is Chairman Wontumi” adding that “I have seen various Chairmen come and go, but I will be very honest- the only person who has commitment is Chairman Wontumi. In the past when he hadn’t come, the NDC used to bulldoze us anyhow”.
Mr. Kusi Boafo warned that the few persons behind the attacks on Chairman Wontumi to step down should put a stop to it since such a call will fail to materialize.
He described Chairman Wontumi as someone who works in the supreme interest of the NPP and must be supported.
“He has his excesses and I tell him when I meet him, but being a human being and dealing with issues, I see that he is mostly doing it in the interest of the party. He has given us victory and we shouldn’t attack him”, Mr. Kusi Boafo said.
