The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Great Consolidated Popular Party, Kofi Owusu Omar, has advised the 2020 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress to stop heeding to the counsel of his party General Secretary.
The GCPP executive in an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, advised that former President John Mahama risks losing all his political credibility should allow Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia to influence him and throw people on the streets to violently demonstrate against the Presidential declaration of the Electoral Commission.
According to him, Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito, orchestrated the defeat of Mr. Mahama in 2016 and has repeated it again in 2020.
“Asideu Nketia made you (Mahama) unpopular in 2016”, Mr. Owusu Omar said and explained that if the NDC had followed the example of the NPP when they called for an open Presidential primaries in 2012, Mr. Mahama would have known his true standing in the party.
“NPP opened nomination and candidates picked forms for contest. They competed Nana Akufo-Addo for the flagbearership slot but when it was time for NDC to selected their flagbearer, they prevented people from picking forms and the only person who managed to get a form was described as a mad person”, Chairman Omar recounted.
He went on to describe General Mosquito as someone who doesn’t have a good relationship with his flagbearer and was scheming to make him unpopular at any given chance.
“Asiedu Nketia’s only achievement was to sell expensive blocks to Ghana when he was given a contract to build Bui dam”, Chairman Omar said.
