VGMA  21: Kuami Eugene Crowned Artiste Of The Year

Popular highlife musician Kuami Eugene has been adjudged the Artiste of the Year at the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards held on Saturday, August 29.

The ceremony, held under strict Covid-19 protocols, capped presentations that began on Friday, August 28.

Aside winning the topmost award, the Fadama-based musician was also crowned the Highlife Artiste of the Year, the third in a row for him, having won it previously in 2018 and 2019.

Though it looked like a night for the contemporary artistes, the veterans also lit the stage with a blast-from-the-past performances.

NAKOREX – made up of the evergreen Akosua Agyapog, Rex Omar and Amandzeba Nat Brew – brought memories of the old to bear on the audience.

 

The man of the moment, popularly called Rockstar, who courted controversy last year after being held high by legendary Amakye Dede as the new King of Highlife, also entertained the audience.

Best Rapper of the Year – Kwesi Arthur

Best Collaboration of the Year – Sarkodie with Oofestso ft Prince Bright

Best New Artiste of the Year – Fameye

Album of the Year – Sugar by KiDi

Vodafone Green Ambassador 2020 – Gasmilla
