Cletus Awuni, has described the ordeal he went through and opened up on how military men tasered him and hit him in the head with objects because he had questioned them and filmed them beating others at Wa.
The PRO for the Upper West Region Coordinating Council in an interview on Wontumi TV stated that he witnessed the military men subjecting others to torture because of a missing mobile phone.
He revealed that he personally called the Army Commander in area to find out from him if he had sanctioned his men to undertake the operation.
But the commander, according to him denied knowing about it leading to Mr. Awuni, filming the event to keep as evidence.
He was later approached by the rampaging soldiers and subjected to severe torture.
He claims that he was tasered and hit in the head with objects until a Police officer came to his rescue.
Last Thursday, some soldiers were accused of brutalising some residents of Wa in the Upper West Region.
The move was allegedly triggered by the theft of a mobile phone supposedly belonging to one of the military officers.
The victims who are mostly commercial tricycle operators, motorists and pedestrians were whipped and made to roll on the bare floor with some forced into gutters nearby.
Several of them are said to have sustained various degrees of injury. Two of them are currently on admission at the Wa Municipal Hospital.
