The only language members of the National Democratic Congress understand is IMF, Lawyer George Oppong, has pointed out.
The presiding member for Kwabre East, stated on Wontumi TV which was monitored by Wontumionline that the stance taken by some NDC legislators over government’s decision to tax transactions that are operated electronically, didn’t come to him as a surprise.
After E-levy was passed, the minority leader of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu together with Mahama Ayariga and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, dragged the Attorney-General to the Supreme Court over the approval of the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-Levy).
They are contending that Parliament did not have the required number of at least half of its members present, when the controversial tax policy was approved.
But Lawyer George Oppong explains that e-levy is a special purpose type of tax, designed to provide financial assistance to the youth and fund major road constructions.
