Ken Agyapong Jr, Co-founder of one of the biggest music festivals in Africa, Afrochella (now AfroFuture) has bemoaned the unprofessional attitude of some Ghanaians.
Ken made a shocking revelation when he sat in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM in Accra, Ghana.
Responding to concerns about huge numbers outside the festival grounds on the second day of the event, Ken revealed a number of factors that caused that.
He explained that a number of people were seen outside the gate because they came after 9 pm, the stipulated time for the gates to be closed.
“It was a lot of people outside. The thing was, we said that the gate was going to close at 9 pm and a lot of people thought we were joking. We didn’t sell anything tickets at the gate.” he said.
He also revealed a lot of people found themselves outside because they had fake tickets which were possibly sold to them by the Ghanaian they contracted to print tickets to the event this year.
“There were some fake tickets as well too so a lot of people who were outside had, some had fake tickets. Our tickets this year were only three kinds. A blue one, purple and yellow. All of a sudden, there’s orange and it’s so sad. I’m sorry to say this but the reason why there were fake tickets is because we used a Ghanaian to print the tickets this year and he printed his own. Usually, we print the tickets outside. This year, we decided to do 100% Ghanaian. Because we gave the job to a Ghanaian, he printed his own tickets for sale. Is it fair, he quizzed?
According to Ken, the individual was arrested but very little has been made of the situation.
Last year’s edition of the Afrochella festival took place at the El Wak Stadium, Accra on December 28 and 29, 2022.
The two-day event saw performances from Burna Boy, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Asake and many others.
