The Arise Ghana Demonstrators Were Armed With Stones And Petrol- Kwabena Marfo (VIDEO)

A communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Marfo, has stated that the protesters of the Arise Ghana came to the demonstration ground with stones and petrol.

Arise Ghana Youth demonstrators hit the street of Accra on 28th June, 2022 with what was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration but rather turned out to be chaotic and led to the injury of about 12 police officers.

The court ordered the group to embark on its demonstration but however restricted their time from 3pm to 10pm to 8am to 4pm, and instructed they begin from Kwame Nkrumah circle to Independence Square all in Accra. The group however did not go with the rules of the court, but rather used the unapproved route. The disagreement over the route led to the demonstrators attacking the police with stones.

Kwabena Marfo while speaking with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV said, ‘’you have defeated your purpose for embarking on the demonstration. The little they were supposed to do as organizers of the demonstration they couldn’t do it. We were supposed to discuss the issues surrounding the demonstration and the way forward but what happened clearly shows they went on a riot”.

”The protesters went to the demonstration grounds with stones and petrol. They are not intelligent and are a disgrace to democracy’’, he added.

He further stated that if the court had allowed them to embark on the demonstration overnight –they would have caused unreasonable civil unrest in the country.

”I advise the police to use reasonable minimum force when it comes to issues like this –no one can measure reasonability once it ensures law and order”, he stressed.
