Terrorist Attack In Burkina Faso, A Wake-Up Call For Ghana- Security Expert

Security Expert, Mr. Irbad Ibrahim has advised the state to tighten its counter terrorism measures to avoid any terrorist attack that may occur in the future.

He said the Ghanaian youth can be trained to terrorize the government and the only way to stop it is by solving unemployment issues.

Speaking on The Privilege Morning Show on Wontumi Radio and TV, Mr. Ibrahim said that the terrorist attack on Burkina Faso and other West African countries is as a result of toppling of late former Libya President, Muammar Al-Gaddafi

He explained that Gaddafi was a pan African leader and was tormenting by the whites so he had to be assassinated.

Mr. Ibrahim said he is happy the ECOWAS, chaired by President Akufo-Addo has given assurance to assist Burkina Faso and other countries in the quest to fight against terrorism.

“I am very happy an astute and true person who understands international relations and diplomacy in the person of President Akufo-Addo is the Chairperson of the ECOWAS,” he told Oheneba Nana Asiedu.

But the renowned security expert urged African leaders to support Akufo-Addo to succeed in this fight.

According to him, the whites have never wanted the West African countries and the Sahel Region to succeed so President Akufo-Addo will match them boot for boot.

Background

In the early hours of Saturday, terrorists raided the village of Yagha in the northern Sahel region, opening fire on residents and villagers .

The number of deaths that has caused by the terrorist attack has rose to 160 on Sunday, confirmed security sources.

The death toll is feared to rise further due to the high number of people sustaining heavy injuries, said the source who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Following the attack, President Roch Marc Christian Kabore announced three days of national mourning starting on Saturday night.

Along with numerous international organizations, Turkey was among those who condemned the attack.

The West African country has been marred by repeated terror attacks that have claimed hundreds of lives in the past five years and displaced thousands simultaneously facing a serious humanitarian crisis.

Sahel countries Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali are at the epicenter of one of the world’s fastest-growing displacement and protection crises.
